Google touts Android success (Investor's Business Daily)

Investor's Business Daily - More than 500,000 Android-based devices are being activated every day, a 25% increase from just 7 weeks ago, said Google's Android chief Andy Rubin. Sales of Android devices are rising 4.4% a week, he said, without disclosing specifics. He did not reveal how many devices being activated are smartphones or tablets. Google offers the software to phone makers for free, but makes money of ad-supported applications and by driving traffic to its sites. Shares rose 2.3% to 493.65.
